Position summary
Provide leadership in planning, supervising, and coordinating all Swiss Manufacturing operations to ensure that scheduled projects are completed at optimum costs, consistent with safety and quality requirements, for on time delivery to customers.


Position responsibilities
Create / maintain CNC machining programs and provide the appropriate level of floor support for program introduction, productivity optimization, and trouble shooting.
Provide appropriate level of floor support by interfacing with operators and other functional groups to review processing issues and resolve with sound and lasting corrective actions.
Define, design, order, review and implement all tooling and material associated with the manufacture of new parts on specified CNC machinery, working with Tool Design as required.
Create / maintain tooling libraries and support document databases, including set-up sheets, manufacturing check lists, drawings, and associated documentation required to accurately account for the design and manufacturing of parts. Upgrade and modify old programs so they are up-to-date and may be used on repeat projects.
Assist Camm department with the creation and maintenance of Tooling Kits.
Assist other departments in solving or responding to quality related problems.
Monitor the progress of jobs released to the production floor, performs time standards and updates processes when appropriate.
Participate in the development of process methods and procedures, work simplification practices and other process improvement activities.
Keep informed of new and/or improved mechanical engineering technology as a basis for influencing, in a positive way, the direction of future project development and/or application.
Assist in the recommendation of new capital equipment.
Assist in the training and development of CNC Swiss Lathe Operators.
Keep the VP Operations and Operations Manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.
Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

Essential skills and experience

A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in Swiss Machining.
Thorough knowledge of shop math through trigonometry. At least 2 years of turning CNC programming experience, some of which must be with Esprit or similar software in a precision machining job shop environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool and fixture design, time standards, and machine center capabilities.
Demonstrated examples of initiative and aggressiveness in completing programs.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with a wide variety of manufacturing personnel and others at all levels.
A minimum of 2 years management/supervision experience.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
